Day Tour to Machu Picchu Details
1 Day Machu Picchu Tour from Cusco

1 Day Machu Picchu Tour from Cusco by train is ideal for those wanting to explore the lost city of Incas in a short time. The full Day Tour to Machu Picchu offers the best of the citadel of Machu Picchu with no compromise in time.

The renowned Inca complex was built during the rule of Pachacutec. Unlike most royal palaces, this was not passed down in the line of succession. Instead it was used for 80 years and abandoned on Spanish conquest.

The complex was home to 750 people. Most of them worked for the royal family. The citadel features impressive Incan engineering. Farming terraces here are built on the slopes of a hill to protect the citadel from landslides.

We will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco. Then in our private transport, we will embark on a journey along the Sacred Valley of Incas to Ollantaytambo train station. Here you will be boarding the train to Aguas Calientes.

Once in Aguas Calientes, you will be boarding the bus to Machu Picchu citadel. Our guide will assist you to clear the security checkpoint and enter the citadel. Please make sure to carry your original passport as it will be verified against your entrance ticket.

Tour of the Citadel

We will then give you a detailed two hours of citadel. On this tour, you will be visiting the main square of the complex, then we will walk you through the ceremonial site, remains of ancient temples, farming terraces and more.

After the tour, you will have some free time to explore the citadel on our own. If you have booked your climb to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain, our local expert will direct you to the entrance. Alternatively, you can walk to the Sun Gate.

Sun Gate or Intipunku is the point through which those on Inca Trail enter the complex. It offers a panoramic view of Machu Picchu. It is a two hours hike from the citadel to the Sun Gate and back.

After the tour, we will be taking the bus back to Aguas Calientes. Here you will have some free time to stop for lunch, if desired. Then we will be boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo.
