Inca Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu – Inca Jungle Trek 4 Days

We will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco early in the morning. We will then be driving you along the Sacred Valley of Incas to Abra Malaga pass. This is the highest and the starting point of the Inca Jungle Trail Cusco. 

Here our local expert will be handing you over the mountain bikes and gears. Once all kitted, our guide will be sharing some safety tips and a brief on what to expect on the downhill mountain biking experience. 

We will then be free wheeling down the road and witness the constantly changing views. You will be biking through the Snow Capped Andean Peaks down to the cloud forest. For lunch, we will be stopping Alfamayo. 

After lunch, we will be visiting a recently discovered complex of Humanmarca. From here, we will be hiking down to 1500 metres above sea level to the town of Santa Maria. Here you will be able to browse the internet, buy some snacks and refreshments if needed. 

After dinner we will be accommodating you in a local family hostel for the night.

After breakfast at 0630 AM, we will begin hiking through steep terrain to another family run restaurant in Santa Maria. Here we will be having a short break. You can snack on something while relaxing on the hammocks. 

We will then start hiking on the section of the Inca Trail. Visiting different archaeological complexes on our way, we will be descending to Qellemayo. Here we will be stopping for lunch. 

From the village of Qellemayo, we will be hiking along the Vilcanota river to the hot springs of Cocalmayo. Here you can take a dip in the natural hot spring water and rejuvenate. Once you have had your fill, we will be continuing the Inca Jungle Trail Cusco experience to Santa Teresa.  Here we will be spending the night. 

After breakfast at 0700 AM, we will be hiking to Colpani. Here our guide will be introducing you to some local plantations. You will be visiting some farms like the Avocado plantations, Coffee, Granadilla and more. 

We will then be driving you to Hidro Electrica plant. Here we will be stopping for lunch. You will then be hiking along the railway lines for three hours to Aguas Calientes town. On this section of the trail, you will be retracing the footsteps of the noted American Professor, Hiram Bingham III who rediscovered the lost city of Incas. 

We will be accommodating you at a basic hotel in Aguas Calientes. Later that evening, we will be meeting for dinner at a local restaurant. 

You will need to wake up early in the morning to start hiking up to the citadel. Alternatively, you can take the bus. It has an extra cost of 12 USD each way. Once at the entrance of the citadel, our guide will be meeting you and will assist you in passing through the security control. 

We will then give you a detailed two hours tour of the iconic site in South America, Machu Picchu. You will be visiting some prominent Inca sites like the ceremonial centre, farming terraces, remains of temples and more. 

After the tour, you will have some free time to explore Machu Picchu on your own. If you have booked your hike to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain, our guide will direct you to the entrance. 

Alternatively, you can walk to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku). It is a two hours walk from the citadel and back. The view of Machu Picchu at sunrise from Inti Punku is exclusive to those on Inca Trail. 

After the half day tour, you will need to hike back down to Aguas Calientes (Optionally you can take the bus). Then you will be hiking back to Hydroelectric Station along the railway lines. Our driver will be waiting for you here. 

We will then be driving you back to Cusco.
