Tour Details

Experience the best of the world’s highest navigable lake on this full day Lake Titicaca Tours from Puno. Tour Uros and Taquile islands and get an insight to the customs and traditions of Uro People.

Lake Titicaca is the highest lake in the world at an altitude of 3810 metres or 12500 feet above sea level. It straddles the border between Peru and Bolivia. It is popularly known as the birthplace of Incas. Lake Titicaca is home to many Inca ruins. Locals living here have preserved their age-old traditions and customs.

Uros floating islands are the most visited attractions here. It is built using totora reeds. Back in time when the local family here had disputes they would simply detach the island and float elsewhere.

Island of Taquile is home to people who continue to maintain their traditions and are untouched by modernity. On this full day tour our local guide will give you an insight to their way of life. You will see their traditional way of making shampoos.

Men here are known for knitting and producing some of the finest handmade outfits in the country.

The full day trip will give you a better understanding of the diversity in the culture and beliefs of people on these two islands on Lake Titicaca.

Why Machu Picchu Peru Cusco?

We are one of the most preferred tour operators. We have dedicated English speaking local guides for each tour. Our guides have professional qualifications in Peruvian history. You will discover many lesser known facts that only a handful of locals are aware of.

We offer both groups as well as private tours. Please let us know if you may have any special request for the tour at the time of booking.

If you are keen on discovering more about life in Lake Titicaca, we recommend experiencing the two day boat tour to Uros, Taquile and Amantani island with an overnight stay with a local family in Amantani.

Family Traveller

We visited two islands on Lake Titicaca – Uros Floating islands and Taquile Island. The service was very good. We enjoyed the boat ride from Puno boat pier. Visit to these two islands were quite an experience on its own. Two distinct cultures and ways of life. It was worth every cent.
