Machu Picchu Bus Tour – Bus to Machu Picchu

We will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco. Then we will be driving you to Hydroelectric Station. It is a scenic route. You will be witnessing a gradual change in landscape from snow capped peaks to cloud forests. 

Once in Hydroelectric, we will serve you lunch. You will then start hiking along the railway lines for three hours to Aguas Calientes. This is a nice walk where you will be rewarded with sights of different flora and fauna. 

On a clear day, you will also get the first view of Machu Picchu citadel high up in the hill, minutes before reaching Aguas Calientes. 

We will be accommodating you in a basic ensuite hotel room to spend the night. Later in the evening, our tour guide will be meeting you at the hotel and will be briefing you on the following day’s itinerary. 

We will then serve you dinner at a local restaurant. 

You will need to wake up early in the morning to start hiking up to the citadel. Alternatively, you can take the bus. It has an extra cost of 12 USD each way. Once at the entrance of the citadel, our guide will be meeting you and will assist you in passing through the security control. 

We will then give you a detailed two hours tour of Machu Picchu. You will be visiting some prominent Inca sites like the ceremonial centre, farming terraces, remains of temples and more. 

After the tour, you will have some free time to explore Machu Picchu on your own. If you have booked your hike to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain, our guide will direct you to the entrance. 

Alternatively, you can walk to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku). It is a two hours walk from the citadel and back. The view of Machu Picchu at sunrise from Inti Punku is exclusive to those on Inca Trail. 

After the tour, you will need to hike back down to Aguas Calientes (Optionally you can take the bus). Then you will be hiking back to Hydroelectric Station along the railway lines. Our driver will be waiting for you here. 

We will then be driving you back to Cusco.
