1 Day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is the best alternative to the Classic Inca Trail and the Short Inca Trail. The trail offers a very good introduction to the history of Incas with enchanting views of Machu Picchu and other archaeological sites.
The 1 Day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu takes you to two prominent Inca ruins, on the trail, Inti Punku (Sun Gate) and Winay Wayna. So you won’t be missing out on the best of the Classic Inca Trail.
1 Day Inca Trail Trek experience is ideal for those wanting to get the most in a short time. Inca Trail tops the bucket list of a majority of travellers who want to explore Machu Picchu. However, in order to protect the trail, the tourism authorities have imposed a regulation by allowing just 500 people a day.
This number includes porters, guides, muleteers and chefs. So there are barely just 200 trekkers who can access the trail in a day. As a result, Inca Trail Permit tends to sell out six to seven months in advance.
Last minute trekkers often look for the best alternative to Inca Trail and end up doing Salkantay or Lares Trek. Both these treks offer rewarding experiences as well. However Inca Trail is one of its kind.
The trail involves high altitude hikes. We highly recommend you to spend 2-3 days in Cusco to avoid altitude sickness.

Cusco Hotel Transfer
0400 AM
We will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco at 0400 AM. Then in our private transport we will be driving you along the Sacred Valley of Incas to Ollantaytambo Train Station. We will then be boarding a train to Km 104. This is the trail head.
The trail head is named after its distance from Cusco to Machu Picchu. Here we will be assisting you in clearing the security control. The authorities will be verifying your original passport with the permit. So please ensure to carry your Passport.
The full day trek experience begins with a short uphill hike against the course of Urubamba river to Winay Wana. In Quechua, the name means forever young. This is an archaeological complex.
It is a prominent stop of the Inca Trail. Once at the complex, our guide will give you a detailed tour of the site.
We will then stop at the campsite for lunch. This is a well equipped campsite. Here there is a dedicated dining area. It also has toilets.
From here we will be hiking up to the Sun Gate or Inti Punku. This is the highlight of the trail. It offers a captivating view of the Inca Citadel, Machu Picchu.
From here we will be hiking down the hill to arrive at Machu Picchu.
At Machu Picchu, our guide will give you a detailed two hours tour of the complex. This would include the main square of the citadel, ceremonial site, remains of Inca temples, farming terraces and more.
After the tour, you will have some free time to explore the beauty of the citadel on your own. Please note that you won’t have enough time to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain. If you want to experience this you will need to spend a night in Aguas Calientes.
Please let us know while booking the tour so we can programme accordingly.
We will then be taking a bus down to Aguas Calientes town. Here you will have some free time to have lunch (not included in the price). Then we will be taking a train back to Ollantaytambo from Aguas Calientes.
Our representative will be meeting you at Ollantaytambo train station and will organise your transfer back to your hotel in Cusco.
