Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain Tour Full Day Details

Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain Tour Full Day often referred to as the Alternative Rainbow Mountain tour is one of the popular tourist attractions in Cusco. Unlike the full-day tour to Classic Rainbow Mountain or Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain in Peru which involves an arduous uphill climb, hiking the Palccoyo Cusco Rainbow Mountain is easier. On this full-day experience, we will be driving you almost to the summit.

The summit of Palccoyo Rainbow mountain is 4900 meters above sea level. We will be driving you to 4700 meters. From here, it’s an easy 45 minute hike to reach the summit, mostly on plain terrain.

En route to the summit, we will be passing through the Snow Forest (Rock Forest) or Bosque de Piedras. Which is worth visiting.

Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain Tour Full Day

Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain Tour offers a visit to a remote Andean village, Checacupe. Locals here have preserved their traditions.

The village houses a beautiful white-washed church and a suspended rope bridge. The bridge resembles the renowned Qeswachaka Bridge. However, this was built by Spanish rulers.

Also known as Montana de Siete colores, Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain is a part of the Ausangate Mountain Range. “Apus’ ‘ as known by locals, as Ausangate is the most sacred peak to locals. It is also the highest in the region. The trek offers you a captivating sight of the snow-capped peak.

In order to preserve the ambiance, only limited visitors are allowed each day. We operate the full-day trip in small groups.

This is a high-altitude experience. We highly recommend you spend a few days in Cusco before the trek to avoid altitude sickness. It is ideal to experience Palccoyo Cusco after the tour to Machu Picchu as you will have enough time to acclimatize.

Palccoyo Rainbow Mountains are a part of the Andean Mountain Range. It is subject to two seasons, dry season and rainy season. The best time to visit Palccoyo is during the dry season – March to November.

We offer this experience both as a private tour or in small groups.

Was not quite sure if this would be a good option to do as I felt quite sick of the higher altitude. I spoke to Karen and she convinced me for this. Yes, she was right, they took a great care of me. The guide was very friendly and helpful. The hike wasn’t tough as we drove almost to the top. It was nice to see and interact with local people too. Just go with Machu Picchu Peru Cusco, they are the best
